Anuradhapura is a major city in Sri Lanka, Famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sri Lankan civilization. It was the third capital of the Kingdom of Rajarata, following the kingdoms of Tambapanni and Upatissa Nuwara. The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the centre of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries; it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

After Breakfast proceed to Mihinthale. (Approx.: travel time 30 min).
Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.
Thereafter proceed to Sigiriya (Approx.: travel time 02 hrs).
In the afternoon climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Sigiriya – the 5th Century Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A Moat, Rampart, and extensive Gardens including the renowned Water Gardens ring the base of the Rock.
Visit the world-renowned Frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the Rock approached by a Spiral Stairway. These Frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.

After breakfast proceed to Polonnaruwa. (Approx.: travel time 02 Hrs).
Do the City tour in Polonnaruwa.
Polonnaruwa , the capital from 11th -13th Century A.D. Here the monuments are better preserved. The circular Relic House (Vata-da-ge) Lankathilaka, Thuparama, Royal Palace,Rankoth Vihara and Galvihara with the beautiful rock cut Buddha statues are the most interesting.
Optional activity – Do a cycle ride through the Polonnaruwa ancient city.
Proceed back to Sigiriya and relax at hotel.

After breakfast visit Dambulla Cave Temple.
Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses.
Enroute Visit “Spice Gardens” in Matale.
Sri Lanka is famous for it’s Spices and Spice Gardens. These Spice Gardens offer tourists memorable visits to various Spice Plantations in Sri Lanka. In order to promote and uplift Spice Farming and Spice Gardens of Sri Lanka, a Spice Council was established with all key industry private and public sector stakeholders.
Thereafter proceed to Kandy. (Approx.: travel time 02 ½ hrs).
Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It’s set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city’s heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), which is popular for strolling. Kandy is famed for sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession.

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya, was started as a pleasure Garden by a Sinhala King, It is near the Mahaweli River (the longest in Sri Lanka). Sixty Seven hectares of exquisite beauty and botanical treasurers containing more than 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees, this is heaven, not only for Scientists but to every nature lover as well.
In the evening witness a cultural show in Kandy.

After breakfast Proceed to Colombo (Approx.: travel time 04 hrs).
Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha.
