Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival / Kalpitiya

On arrival at the Bandaranayke International Airport, you will get your first taste of warm Sri Lankan hospitality. Representative from Seerock Holidays will welcome you at the airport and proceed to Kalpitiya. (Approx.: travel time 02 hrs).
Check-in to the Hotel in Kalpitiya and relax.

Kalpitiya is known for its serene beauty. It consists of 14 islands. The people of Kalpitiya are mostly fishermen. It is now developing as an attractive tourist destination. Kalpitiya famous for whale & dolphin watching and offers various water related activities.

Day 2 & 3Kalpitiya

Breakfast at the hotel and enjoy the beach stay with kitesurfing .

(You can arrange the Kitesurfing activities direct from the hotel with an extra cost)

Day 4Kalpitiya / Sigiriya

Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Sigiriya (Approx: 04 Hrs)

Start to climb Sigiriya rock.

Sigiriya – the 5th Century Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A Moat, Rampart, and extensive Gardens including the renowned Water Gardens ring the base of the Rock.

Day 5Sigiriya

After breakfast visit a local village. The trek begins with an awesome walk along a man-made reservoir. The reservoir itself, the surrounding scrub jungle, marshland and village are a hive of early morning activity. You could supprot local farmers to watering their cultivation during your journey accross the Local Farm .

You will continue your tour with a Boat ride and bullock cart ride up to a village house where you will enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan lunch.
Lunch – prepared and served in clay pots. Village Fruits & Vegetables will complete the scene of a rural setting. All these things are done by villagers and all girls are dressed like typical villagers and have the lunch on a banana leaf.

In the evening climb Pidurangala Rock temple.

Pidurangala Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple situated next to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The temple was constructed on a massive rock called Pidurangala. In English language it means “offered piles of gold”. It is believed that the history of Pidurangala Vihara goes back beyond to the first and second century BC. Those days Pidurangala was used as a Buddhist monastery.

Day 6Sigiriya / Dambulla / Knuckles

After breakfast visit Dambulla Cave Temple.

Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses.

Thereafter proceed to Knuckles (Approx.: travel time 02 ½ hrs).

The Knuckles range is one of the loveliest nature attractions of Sri Lanka. The changing terrain of grasslands, rugged mountain peaks interspersed with streams and cascading waterfalls make Knuckles mountain range that covers an area of 18512 hectares the trekker’s paradise. With its numerous mountain trails, the Knuckles Mountain Range offers trekkers a great opportunity for a hike across dense forests, gushing rivers, cascading waterfalls, verdant tea plantations and terraced paddy fields.

Day 07 & 08 Knuckles

After Breakfast, A walk through the Pitawala Pathana – the island’s largest dry pathana plains.

The trek (Village/Manigala Trek) is approximately about 8 kms one way and its 16 kms in total. At the end of the trail you would be able to swim at a base of a waterfall (Thelgamu Oya). You are expected to encounter with species such as Deer, Barking deer, Deer monkey and various types of Lizards. In this trek you will be climbing from 1200 ft to 1850 ft. On the way back you will be able to do some bird watching.

Day 09 Knuckles / Kitulgala

Journey continue to Kitulgala. (Approx.: travel time 04 hrs).

Kitulgala is a small town in the west of Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. Many People visit Kitulagala to enjoy the beautiful scenery, play in the river, Jungle Walks, Adventurous water fall jumps/ slides, White Water Rafting and also you could have excellent Sri Lankan meal at the local restaurants.

In the afternoon you can do White Water Rafting in the Kelani River, covering 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids.
In the late afternoon you could visit around the Kitulgala Jungle and do birding.

Bird watching in Kitulgala is considered as a main interest of a nature lover and can result in you seeing many of the country’s endemic bird species such as Sri Lanka Spur fowl, SL Jungle fowl, Serendib Scops Owl as well as reptiles such as green pit viper and earless lizard and a variety of butterflies.

Day 10 Kitulgala / Adam’s peak

After breakfast proceed to Adams peak. In the late evening start to climb Adams peak.

Adams peak is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain located in central Hill country in Sri Lanka. There were around 5,500 steep steps. This was identified by Buddhists as the Buddha’s footprint, by Hindus as that of Shiva, and by Muslims as Adam, Islamic and Christianians as Adam, or St. Thomas.

(During the Season from Dec poya day to May poya day – Adams peak hike will be done by night time & during the off season from June to Nov – Adams peak hike will be done by day time )

Day 11 Adam’s Peak / Nuwaraeliya

Continue journey to Nuwaraeliya. (Approx.: 03 hrs).

Nuwara Eliya – The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the Island, but it is really just like an English spring day, although the temperature does drop at night. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence. Houses are like Country Cottages or Queen Ann style Mansions.

Day 12 Nuwaraeliya / Horton Plains

Early morning, proceed to Horton Plains through the tea estates and then through the forest overlooking some of the best sceneries in the hill country.

Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya is a protected area in the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 meters (6,900–7,500 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. This region was designated an National Park in 1988. During this trek you will be served a picnic meal.

Day 13 Nuwaraeliya / Sinharaja

Continue the journey to Sinharaja (Approx: 04 Hrs ) and check-in to the hotel in Sinharaja.

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The hilly virgin rainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility, and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1988. The reserve’s name translates as Lion Kingdom.

Day 15 Sinharaja / Mirissa

Continue the journey to Mirissa (Approx: 03 Hrs)

En-route do the city tour in Galle.

Galle, has one of the most beautiful old Dutch / Portuguese Forts in all of South East Asia. It is a Port town and there is a thriving neighbourhood with the Fort Walls. Once inside you can walk around the Old Fort and get lost amongst all the small streets. Spend an hour or so wandering around the Old Dutch Church in the heat of the day and read some of the old Tombstones from 200 yearsago.

Continue the journey to Mirissa & check-in to the hotel in Mirissa.

Day 16 Mirissa

Early morning do a Whale & Dolphin Watching excursion in Mirissa.

The ever smiling, mischievous dolphins will put on a show while some of the oldest and the largest sea creatures, the humpback and the blue whales, will nonchalantly glide past you, when you embark on a whale/ dolphin watching excursion off the Southern coast of Sri Lanka. The ideal locations for whale watching would be Dondra Point (Mirissa) with an abundance of dolphins.

Day 17 Mirissa/ Airport
